Toronto

Located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is the most populous city in Canada and the provincial capital and largest city of Ontario.

Come and see what makes Toronto attractions unforgettable; from exciting theme parks and incredible zoos to spectacular gardens and festivals, attractions in Toronto offer a daily adventure.

Whether you’re a culture vulture, history enthusiast, or love food, there are a variety of fun tours available in Toronto. Toronto also serves a major gateway to Niagara Falls which makes for a great day trip for short get-way.

Toronto offers a multitude of opportunities, so get the big picture with a view from the top – the CN Tower! While you’re up there, test your nerve on the thrilling EdgeWalk.

Head midtown to the Bata Shoe Museum and see blue suede shoes worn by Elvis. Explore Casa Loma, an Edwardian castle complete with secret passages, ghosts and elegant gardens.

Gaze at lions, tigers and polar bears at the Toronto Zoo, one of the largest zoos in the world. Get hands-on with hundreds of interactive exhibits at the Ontario Science Centre, featuring all things nature and science. For sports buffs visit the Hockey Hall of Fame and touch the Stanley Cup, ice hockey’s most coveted prize.

Tour the City! By foot, bus, boat, bike… There are so many fun ways to explore the streets, neighbourhoods and attractions of Toronto in a short period of time. Toronto offers you the variety whether you are staying for a few nights or on an extended vacation.

Day Trips & Niagara Falls Day trips are a great way to discover the nearby region. Several tour companies take you to the majestic Niagara Falls. You could also rent a car and drive to the falls. Explore the falls with a Hornblower Falls Cruise tour, check out the Butterfly Conservatory or shop along the Canadian/US border. Sip your way through many of the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, another popular option to make a weekend out of touring the Falls.

Foodie Tours Toronto’s creative food tours highlight our vibrant culinary scene. Whether you’re sourcing your next meal through Toronto’s markets, indulging in delectable sweets through trendy neighbourhoods or discovering our history through a brewery or two, you’ll be satiated with your visit.

CN Tower & EdgeWalk National icon, engineering wonder, Toronto must-see – at 553m/1,815ft the CN Tower is an award-winning dining and entertainment destination. Spectacular views include world-famous Glass Floor, Sky Pod and glass fronted elevators with glass floor panels. Three restaurants include award-winning 360 Restaurant (elevation complimentary with entree). Plus 3D theatre, ride, shopping and thrilling new EdgeWalk – it is the world’s highest ‘hands-free’ walk, 356m/1168ft (116 stories) above ground.

Exploring the Neighbourhoods Toronto’s neighbourhoods each have their own unique character and flair. Immerse yourself in the Mediterranean sounds, sights and flavours of Greektown. Stroll Little India and experience South Asian cuisine and culture. Take your pick of six Chinatowns in the Greater Toronto Area. Spend a day in Corso Italia, a lively neighbourhood that brings Italian culture to life with colourful cafés, fashion boutiques and specialty food stores. Browse the bounty of 120 farmers and specialty merchants at the St. Lawrence Market, established in 1803. Explore Toronto’s vibrant waterfront on foot or by bike – a great place to start is Harbourfront Centre, where there are always cultural events going on. Spend a quiet afternoon at Toronto Islands, a car-free green space just a 10-minute ferry ride from downtown.

Shopping In recent years, Toronto has emerged as a major style destination. From luxury designer items to some of the best vintage shopping in North America, there is no shortage of stores to reinvent your wardrobe or home. The glittering glass galleria of the Toronto Eaton Centre soars over 230 local and international retailers who attract one million visitors weekly. Follow the PATH, an underground walkway that links 28 kilometres of shopping, services and restaurants. For couture, head up to Bloor-Yorkville – think of it as Toronto’s Bond Street. Browse the area’s boutiques and emporiums for the latest trends and designer fashions.

Hipsters will find a home on Queen Street West, a haven for the style conscious with one-of-a-kind fashion stores, cafés and clubs. Step back into the past at Toronto’s Distillery Historic District, a 19th-century neighbourhood that is a centre for arts, culture and entertainment. Venture up to Vaughan Mills shopping centre and score amazing finds at designer outlet stores.

Also check out Toronto’s famous Kensington Market. Today the neighbourhood and the market make up one of Toronto’s most diverse areas. The rich multicultural mix is obvious in the shops packed with goods from Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, South America and Asia. A visit to Kensington Market is like a sensory trip around the world. It’s also a treasure trove of vintage and second-hand clothing shops tucked in among eclectic restaurants and cafés.

Dining Toronto's culinary scene is one of the best in the country. Choose from upscale gourmet to home-cooked comfort foods from nearly everywhere in the world. Toronto’s creative food tours highlight our vibrant culinary scene. Whether you’re sourcing your next meal through Toronto’s markets, indulging in delectable sweets through trendy neighbourhoods or discovering our history through a brewery or two, you’ll be satiated with your visit. Be sure to explore the multitude of neighbourhoods offering cuisines from Greece, Italy to Korea, China and India – the choices are limitless.

Celebrating its 90th year and promising to be the biggest year ever, The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is the largest of its kind and truly is part of Canadian tradition.

Santa Claus Parade: Mid November The Santa Claus Parade has been a Toronto tradition since 1905. Fantastic animated floats leave the corner of Christie and Bloor Street West in the company of two dozen marching bands and a couple of thousand costumed participants, cheered along by excited kids.

Cavalcade of Lights: Last Saturday in November This festive event, a 48-year holiday tradition in Toronto, will feature the illumination of Toronto’s official Christmas tree, performances by some of Canada’s top musical talent, a brilliant fireworks show and a skating party at Nathan Phillips Square.

The city experiences four distinct seasons, with considerable variance in day to day temperature, particularly during the colder weather season.

The summer months are characterized by long stretches of humid weather. Usually in the range from 23 to 31 °C (73 to 88 °F), daytime temperatures occasionally surpass 35 °C (95 °F) accompanied by high humidity making it feel oppressive during these brief periods of hot weather.

Spring and autumn are transitional seasons with generally mild or cool temperatures with alternating dry and wet periods.

Toronto winters sometimes feature cold snaps where maximum temperatures remain below −10 °C (14 °F), often made to feel colder by wind chill.
