Whistler

Nestled in the Coast Mountains, only 40 kilometres inland from the Pacific Ocean, and 120 kilometres from Vancouver, one of Canada's largest urban centres - Whistler has been consistently ranked as North America's top ski and snowboard resort. Whistler Blackcomb also welcomed the world in 2010 as a host venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Endless sunshine during summer months brings forth the adventure seekers to Whistler. Spectacular mountain terrains, pristine lakes and evergreen forests offer you an infinite list of outdoor activities. With easy accessibility by ground transportation on the Sea to Sky Highway, via floatplane or helicopter services – Whistler is a year-round destination not to be missed.

Whistler's consistent and reliable snowfall makes things easy for planning winter vacations. Whistler Blackcomb is well known for incredible skiing and snowboarding, featuring two massive mountains with terrain to suit all ages and abilities.

But there is more to winter here than sliding on snow, with many other ways for families to get out and experience the best of Canada in wintertime. Pick and choose your winter activities from snowshoeing and sleigh rides, cross country skiing, dog sledding, ice skating and more.

Summertime in the mountains has to be experienced to be believed. Warm sunshine and long days create the perfect conditions for being active outdoors, and in Whistler you and your family can explore from high in the alpine to lakes, beaches and forests of the valley.

Skiing & Snowboarding Whistler Blackcomb is a dream destination for people who love to ski and snowboard. With over 8,100 acres of snow-covered slopes, 16 alpine bowls, 3 glaciers, world-class terrain parks and half pipes and 200+ marked trails for all ability levels, Whistler Blackcomb is the ultimate in big mountain experiences. Whistler continues to top mountain resort rankings year after year and was named Number One Ski Resort in North America by readers of SKI Magazine for 2016.

Summer Adventures Whistler's list of summer activities is a mile long. Top it off with an eclectic mix of events, family-friendly atmosphere and a fun and vibrant arts and culture scene for the ultimate summer destination. From zip-lining, jet boating, mountain & cross country biking, ATV adventures to bungee jumping are just a few of the activities on offer. Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains boast hiking trails with incredible views. Choose from short, family friendly strolls on wide paths to more advanced hikes to lakes, glaciers and alpine meadows.

Peak to Peak Gondola For stunning 360-degree views of snow-covered Whistler Village and soaring mountains – a ride on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola is not to be missed! The ride spans over 2 mountain ranges with a length of 4.4KM/2.73mi with a ride time of just 11 minutes! It holds world records for the longest free span between ropeway towers—3.03 kilometres (1.88 miles) and highest point above the ground—436 metres (1,430 feet.) Each gondola cabin can hold up to 28 people each with 26 seating and 6 standing plus 2 special gondolas with glass floors.

Golfing With 4 champion golf courses designed by world renowned golfers and set amongst remarkable mountain ranges, Whistler offers you superb playing conditions in fresh mountain air. Such as the Nicklaus North Golf Course - Nicklaus North is only the second Canadian course designed by Jack Nicklaus and, of the 150 courses he's designed worldwide, this is the only course to which Jack has been compelled to add his name. Designed with an awareness and sensitivity towards the area's natural habitat and nestled between Green Lake and the River of Golden Dreams, Nicklaus North features impressive glacial mountain views.

Shopping Village Whistler is a shopper’s paradise. Find anything and everything you need or want - plus plenty of places to grab a coffee - right outside your accommodation. From fine artwork and high-end fashion, jewelry, the latest outdoor sports equipment and gear to bathing suits, camping supplies, unique gifts and cameras - spend an hour or two wandering the pedestrian-only walkways and you can find it all.

Dining Whistler satisfies all appetites with plenty of places to eat for breakfast, lunch, après and dinner. Experience fresh food in mountainside venues with amazing views and with price ranges to suit every visitor. Award-winning restaurants and chefs offer appetizing fare from different ethnicity and regions, with many featuring organic and locally sourced ingredients. Time your visit for a culinary event like Indulge in Whistler to see Whistler's food scene in full swing and reduced prices.

Whistler offers a non-stop lineup of events through every season. From film festivals, to food and wine, Whistler also hosts some of the top annual sporting events in North America such as the IRONMAN Canada, GranFondo Whistler road bike race, TELUS Golf Classic, , Crankworx Freeride Mountain Bike Festival just to name a few.

New Year’s Eve Celebrations: This alcohol-free evening of family entertainment and celebration in Whistler Village draws in locals and international travellers from around the globe. Each year it’s topped off with a special Fire & Ice Show and a dazzling midnight fireworks display.

The area is best known for its superb downhill skiing and snowboarding. While it receives an average annual snowfall of 914 cm, Whistler's coastal proximity ensures moderate temperatures through the winter season. In fact, the average daily minimum temperature in Whistler Village is -5° C during most of the winter months.

During the rest of the year, Whistler is an ideal destination for outdoor activities; temperatures reach an average daily high of 27º C during the summer months of July and August.
