Departure date

The below itinerary is only a suggestion, we offer tailor-made personal service and solutions to help you plan your perfect vacation.

Day 1 Deer Lake to Norris Point (72 km/44 mi) Arrive to Deer Lake and collect your rental car (not included) for your drive along the Viking Trail to Norris Point, your first destination located on the northern side of Bonne Bay and adjacent to Gros Morne National Park, a world heritage site.

Day 2 Bonne Bay Cruise The morning is free to explore the area with your rental car. In the afternoon, board a two-hour cruise on the catamaran M.V. Emm-Cat and let the skipper and crew fascinate you with the many breathtaking views and visual treasures of Bonne Bay. Live commentary throughout the tour highlights the geological wonders, the rich cultural history and the diversity of Bonne Bay, situated in the heart of Gros Morne National Park. After your tour, join the crew at the “CAT STOP”, located dockside, the perfect place to wind down, relax, enjoy the beautiful view, mingle with friends, have a refreshment, or two, or enjoy mouthwatering pub snacks and listen to the toe-tapping local entertainers; a perfect way to top off your tour.

Day 3 Gros Morne National Park Enjoy a day exploring all of Gros Morne National Park on your own viewing glacial valleys, intriguing rock formations, magnificent sea arches and numerous types of wildlife. Don’t miss the internationally known Tablelands, a rare outcrop of the Earth’s mantle pushed skyward half a billion years ago.

Day 4 Norris Point to Saint Anthony (359 km/223 mi) Continue your journey north along the Viking Trail toward St. Anthony. Enjoy spectacular ocean scenery as you drive along the coast line dotted with unique fishing villages. For the historical adventurer, make a stop in Port Au Choix and Port Au Choix National Historic Site where three ancient cemeteries of the Maritime Archaic People were discovered. The Visitor Centre offers great background to this culture with exhibits and artifacts.

Day 5 L’Anse aux Meadows (80 km/49 mi round trip) Awaken today in St. Anthony at the very tip of the Viking Trail. Visit the L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site comprising the remains of the oldest known European settlement of the New World. The colony of Vinland was excavated in the 1960s and the artifacts are on display supported by a film. Walk to the original village and discover the full scale replicas of Norse buildings. Return to Saint Anthony for the night.

Day 6 Saint Anthony The day is free to relax or explore the region and its unique attractions on your own. Climb 543 stairs to the top of Fishing Point to take in spectacular morning views, visit Grenfell Historical Properties and take a walk to Tea House Hill where stories of Dr. Grenfell’s Legacy surround you. The Northern Peninsula has always been recognized throughout the world as Iceberg Alley. 90% of icebergs seen in Newfoundland and Labrador come from the glaciers of western Greenland. From May through July and sometimes in August, you can view majestic icebergs and large whales right off the shores and cliffs.

Day 7 Saint Anthony to Steady Brook (457 km/284 mi) Make your way back down the peninsula to Steady Brook. This picturesque community is surrounded by beautiful mountains with the Humber River flowing through its heart. This stunning area offers numerous activities and dining options and is a good base for exploring the Bay of Islands & Humber Valley.

Day 8 Steady Brook The morning is at leisure to explore the region or relax at the Resort.

Day 9 Steady Brook to Deer Lake (41 km/26 mi) Take a leisure drive back to Deer Lake where your Viking Trail journey ends.
