Yuina Ichikawa

Operations Supervisor

Born in Japan, Yuina spent most of her childhood in Tokyo. She wasn’t exposed to many outdoorsy activities growing up, but not long after moving to Canada she became an outdoor fanatic. She now loves camping, hiking and anything else allowing her to take in Canada’s natural beauty. After working at a travel agency catering to Japanese tourists in Vancouver for years, she went back to university to be able to apply her work at a global level. She now feels it’s your turn to be fascinated by the stunning nature and experiences offered here in Canada.

What is your favorite place in Canada?

Quarry Rock located in Deep cove, North Vancouver. My very first hiking experience ever was here at Quarry Rock, and was what sparked my interest in hiking. It offers a perfect hiking trail for beginners like me – only taking 1-1.5 hours. Definitely worth seeing the spectacular view from the top. You must try the honey doughnuts in Deep Cove after the hike.

What is your best travel memory in Canada?

Definitely my road trip to the Rockies - from Vancouver to Banff. Stopping in the Okanagan, a Canadian wine region, was a highlight of the trip for sure. Needless to say, the mountain views in Banff and Jasper are breathtaking, but the most memorable part of the journey was seeing the color of Lake Louise. The bold blue-green was beyond what I had imagined.

Finch’s Tea & Coffee House located nearby Gastown in downtown Vancouver is famous for their delicious sandwiches. I love the cozy atmosphere and antique decor - it's the perfect spot to grab a quick lunch between shopping or exploring the city. My favorite is the Pear and Walnuts sandwich - give it a try the next time you're in Vancouver.
