Kamloops

Located at the confluence of the South and North Thompson rivers in BC's semi-arid grasslands, Kamloops is the mid travel point between Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies. The Rocky Mountaineer makes its overnight stop here offering a quick glimpse of city by the river.
For self-drivers wishing to spend some more time in the area, Kamloops offers incredible hiking, mountain biking and camping. Kamloops is also a major golfing destination, with around a dozen courses close by. With more than 100 lakes and two major rivers provide great fishing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting and tubing.
If you are traveling through the region late September and October, the Adams River Salmon Run occurs near Kamloops where you can see millions of salmon returning to spawn.
