Day 3 Niagara Falls Day Tour (Coach) Today, enjoy a full-day tour to the Niagara Peninsula: Canada’s fruit belt and major wine-producing region, home of the spectacular Niagara Falls - one of the great wonders of the world. Tour includes: Hornblower Cruises or Journey Behind the Falls, a meal overlooking Niagara Falls, free time in Niagara-on-the-Lake and a winery tour including a wine tasting. (lunch included)
Day 4 Toronto to Kingston (262 km/162 mi) Collect your rental car (not included) and travel to Kingston. Stop in the city of Peterborough, which boasts the world’s highest lift locks, literally lifting pleasure crafts, along with the water they float in, 20 metres (65 feet) straight up. Visit the Peterborough Lift Lock Visitor Centre (admission not included), and view the hydraulic lift lock, slides and films about the Trent-Severn Waterway. You will also see a working model, and experience the sights and sounds of lift lock construction at the turn-of-the-century. Take the time to visit Fort Henry National Historic Site (admission not included) near Kingston. A living museum of military life, Fort Henry was built between 1832 and 1834 to repel an American invasion that never came. The fort, once the largest military establishment in Upper Canada, now offers visitors a glimpse of a soldier’s life of those days, through guided tours, soldier’s parades and drills.
Day 5 Kingston to Ottawa (202 km/125 mi) Begin the day with a short drive to Gananoque for a cruise through the Thousand Islands. Continue to the nation’s capital, Ottawa. With unique history, geography and lifestyle, it offers a wide variety of urban attractions: many of Canada’s best museums and cultural facilities, as well as the Parliament Buildings and other historical structures and major institutions are located in the Capital Area. (breakfast included)
Day 6 Ottawa Sightseeing Situated on the Ottawa River, Ottawa is a unique mix of old and new, history and technology, excitement and relaxation. Included today is the Hop-On/Hop-Off City Tour. Your ticket allows you to tour our nation’s capital at your own pace, or stay on board for a two hour fully narrated tour.
Day 7 Ottawa to Huntsville (339 km/210 mi) Time to travel again, heading west into Algonquin Provincial Park. Take your time and enjoy the scenery, visit the interpretation centre, and watch out for wildlife. Continue to Huntsville for your 2-night stay.
Day 8 Huntsville Warm weather activities and amenities are yours to enjoy today, spend some time by one of the lakes in the area. Rent a canoe or perhaps golf is more to your taste - there are dozens of courses in the area.
Day 9 Huntsville to Manitoulin Island (367 km/228 mi) Leaving Deerhurst Resort this morning, you head towards Manitoulin Island - the largest freshwater island in the world.
Day 10 Manitoulin Island The day is free to explore Manitoulin Island. Manitoulin communities have beautiful public beaches, often accompanied by parks and playgrounds. Hiking trails meander through the Manitoulin landscape. The island has a great many quiet roads, ideal for an exploratory “drive in the country” or cycling adventure, and miles of varied and spectacular shoreline. Take the 1.5-hour walking tour with the Great Spirit Circle Trail that specializes in Authentic Aboriginal Experience (not included).
Day 11 Manitoulin Island to Bruce Peninsula (111 km/69 mi + ferry) Today you are leaving Manitoulin Island and heading south east to Tobermory by ferry (included) - a true paradise for naturalists, photographers, divers, hikers, kayakers, leisure-seekers, golfers and art lovers. Tobermory offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, rest and relaxation, sweet clean air and water, and scenery that is absolutely breathtaking.
Day 12 Tobermory The day is free to explore the area. Hike the majestic cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment along the world famous Bruce Trail or the inland trails of Bruce Peninsula National Park, enjoy diving or snorkeling in the Fathom Five National Marine Park - many shipwrecks make the park a popular scuba diving destination - or take a glass bottom boat tour (not included), allowing you to see the shipwrecks without having to get wet.
